I started Quality Custom Framing in 1994. I learned how to do picture framing in 1989 when I worked at The Artworks and Alpine True Value. I worked there part-time for four years before I took a full-time job working at an insurance company in 1993. When I left, they shut down their framing department shortly thereafter because it wasn't cost effective for the amount of floor space it was taking.
About a year after I left, I realized how much I enjoyed picture framing and really missed the satisfaction of making any type of artwork something really special. I bought the equipment from them and started my home-based business in our basement. I recently retired and I'm now framing full-time.
In 2005 I expanded my business and added on a second room as my workroom and the original room was made into my design studio. I also added an underpinner to join wooden frames, an oval/circle mat cutter, drymount press and glass cutter.
My business may be small, but I have a lot to offer my customers. I spend the extra time with my customers to find out where they will be displaying their piece of art, choosing the correct type of mat and also glass. I also specialize in needlecraft and doing shadowboxes. I don't want my customers to walk out second guessing what they just ordered. I want them informed so they know exactly what they are getting for their money with 100% satisfaction guaranteed. I am also able to offer my services at a more reasonable rate than the large chains and galleries because I don't have the high cost of a store front and the expenses that go along with it.
I have been a member of the East Troy Chamber of Commerce since 1994. I volunteer for the East Troy Electric Railroad Museum, framing pictures, gift shop manager as well as serving on the dinner trains. I also support the East Troy Distinguished Artist Program by providing my framing services. This program was established in 2003 by the East Troy School District in which area businesses sponsor artwork done by the Elementary, Middle and High School students. The students present the framed artwork to the businesses at which time they display it for one year. After that time, the students artwork is returned to them professionally framed by Quality Custom Framing. I look forward to hearing from you soon, so please give me a call and I can create something special for your home.
